The California Grays

The California Grays brand identity was created for a newly established Little League Baseball team inspired by the legacy of the historic Grays. The goal was to design a logo that captured the timeless spirit of baseball while giving the team a modern and professional presence. Through research into vintage team typography and classic color schemes, I developed a bold, arched wordmark that balances tradition and strength. The final identity honors the name's history while giving the new team a sense of pride, unity, and authenticity from day one.

The California Grays were starting from scratch and needed a brand that felt rooted in tradition yet fresh and relevant for today’s players and families. The challenge was to pay homage to the past while ensuring the logo could stand confidently on uniforms, merchandise, and digital platforms.

The Result

The final logo features a bold, arched wordmark that captures both the strength and nostalgia of classic baseball design. Paired with refined typography for “California,” the system creates a cohesive visual identity that feels authentic, proud, and enduring. The result gives the team a sense of legacy from day one—linking the spirit of the historic Grays with a new generation of players.
